70 centimetres is the band of repeaters, digital voice and satellites. Its narrow-band segment around 432 MHz is used for SSB and CW contacts beyond line of sight when the troposphere helps.
Antennas are small and gain is easy, which makes it popular from summits and for portable stations.
Allocations vary more here than on any other band: some countries share it with other services. Check your own band plan.
