The 30m band: frequencies, band plan and propagation

The 30 metre band: a narrow WARC band for CW and digital modes, open day and night.

Band plan

CW10.100–10.130 MHz
Digital modes10.130–10.150 MHz

Simplified from the IARU Region 1 band plan. Your national rules and licence class decide what you may use.

  • CW
  • Digital modes

30 metres is narrow and quiet. There is no phone and, as a WARC band, no contests, which makes it a refuge for CW and digital operators.

It bridges day and night: it works long distance in daylight like the higher bands and stays open at night like 40. Signals are often steady when the other bands are noisy.

Power is limited in many countries. A modest station still works the world here, which is why FT8 and CW DX spots on 30 metres are common.

WARC band: no contests, by IARU agreement.
